Burna Boy Is Not The First Nigerian To win Grammy Award – Reno Omokri

Burna Boy Is Not The First Nigerian To win Grammy Award – Reno Omokri

Former presidential spokesman Reno Omokri says that Nigerian Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy is not the first Nigerian Grammy award winner.

On Twitter recently, Reno praises the Yoruba race as ‘the most successful ethnic group in Nigeria’.

Buttressing his point, he highlights some achievements of the Yoruba race in Nigeria. Among them, he states that the first Grammy-award winner in Nigeria was a Yoruba man.

Then, one of his followers, trying to correct him, points out that ‘Burna Boy is not from the enthic group of Yoruba’.

In response to the follower, Reno underscores that Burna Boy is not the first Nigerian to win a Grammy and that few Nigerians (who are all of the Yoruba race) have won it in the past.

His statement reads:

‘Dear @UzorOnuigbo, Burna Boy is not the first Nigerian to win a Grammy. The first, second, third and fourth Nigerians to win Grammies are, Sade Adu (86), Babatunde Olatunji (1991), Sikiru Adepoju (1991) and Seal (1996). All are Yoruba. Thanks and God bless’.

What do you think about this?

Meanwhile, Burna Boy recently unlocked his forthcoming album dropping soon, check it out here.
