The Federal Government has disclosed why Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the indigenous People of Biafra, (IPOB), is yet to be released.
Speaking on Monday, FG stated that Kanu is a flight risk person.
FG made this claim in an affidavit it filed in support of it’s application to stay in execution of the judgement.
FG described Kanu as a “flight risk person” stating that the case against him borders on national security.
According to their statement;
”The Respondent is a flight risk person. It is important to appreciate the gamut of depositions in our application.
One of the ground of our application is that this matter touches on national security of the state.
We rely on the case of FRN V Dokubo, where the Supreme Court held that national security threatened or likelihood of it being threatened, human rights takes second place.
”Once there is a threat to national security, human rights of any individual can be suspended until such threat is taken care of.
