American rapper and singer Durk Derrick Banks, known professionally as Lil Durk has finally unveiled his highly anticipated project labeled “7220”.
7220 is the seventh studio album from Chicago native, Lil Durk. It follows up on his collaborative album with Lil Baby, The Voice of the Heroes, and his sixth studio album The Voice (Dec. 24, 2020) and it’s deluxe (Jan. 29, 2021).
The album name could refer to the book “7220” by Lashawnda Woodward otherwise known as Lil Durk’s birth mother. The book sheds light on how to strengthen family relationships and how to overcome obstacles which Lil Durk has had to do many times.
On January 12, 2022, prior to the album’s official announcement, Lil Durk announced the albums, 7220 Tour, a tour placed across the whole of the US beginning in April 2022 and ending in May 2022 in his hometown, Chicago.
On January 31, 2022, Durk posted on his Instagram confirming the completion of the album and its key inspiration. He captioned:
7220 my granny address the house it all started in 🦈- album done
Later that night, DJ Bandz, Lil Durk’s official DJ posted an Instagram picture with Durk while writing what looks to be a tracklist which ended in the number twenty. In the post, he captioned:
The Process… #7220
On the same night, Only The Family signee and close affiliate of Lil Durk also took to Instagram to tease the same tracklist .
